Women and ADHD Community Group

The Women and ADHD Support Group is a welcoming monthly ADHD support group in King's Lynn, Norfolk, for women who are diagnosed, self-identify, are awaiting assessment, or recognise ADHD traits in themselves.

Women join us from across West Norfolk to connect with others who simply "get it", explore practical strategies, and feel understood in a compassionate, neurodivergent-affirming community.

Together, we gather in a non-judgmental and compassionate space to explore the hidden realities of ADHD and related neurodivergent experiences. Through neurodivergent-affirming psychoeducation, reflective discussion, creative activities and shared lived experiences, we uncover the patterns, strengths and challenges that often go unseen by others, and sometimes by ourselves.

Many women arrive carrying years of self-criticism, shame, overwhelm or a sense that they are somehow failing at things that seem effortless for everyone else. Hearing others describe experiences that mirror our own can be incredibly powerful. It reminds us that we are not alone, and that many of the struggles we have internalised are understandable responses to navigating a world that was not designed for neurodivergent minds.

Our sessions blend evidence-informed learning with practical strategies, self-reflection and community connection. Whilst the group is facilitated by qualified counsellors, it is not therapy. However, many members describe the experience as therapeutic because it creates opportunities for insight, self-awareness, self-compassion and meaningful connection.

Alongside our monthly workshops, we encourage creativity, community contribution and shared strengths. We use art and creative expression to explore experiences that can be difficult to put into words. Our Letting Go Shop helps reduce waste by supporting members to declutter and redirect items to a loving home, away from landfill.

We are also developing a Hobby Share initiative that celebrates the talents, interests, and skills within our community and creates opportunities for members to learn from one another.

The Art of Being ADHD: Imperfectly Perfect

What does your ADHD look like?

Is it a whirlwind of sticky notes and unfinished projects? A disco ball? A beautiful explosion of colour? A tangled ball of yarn? A busy motorway with no speed limits? A curious octopus juggling twenty-seven ideas at once?

This month, we're putting the words to one side and getting creative.

Join us for an afternoon of colour, clay, creativity and conversation as we explore what ADHD feels like through art. Whether you prefer sketching, painting, collaging, sculpting, doodling, or simply making a glorious creative mess, this session is all about expressing your unique experience in whatever way feels right for you.

And before you panic... absolutely no artistic ability is required!

This is not an art class and there is no right or wrong way to do it. Stick figures are welcome. Abstract blobs are encouraged. Glitter explosions are optional.

Sometimes words simply aren't enough. Creative activities can help us express thoughts, emotions and experiences that can be difficult to put into language. By engaging different parts of the brain, creativity can open up new ways of understanding ourselves, making sense of our experiences and discovering strengths we may not have noticed before.

Alongside our creative exploration, we'll continue to do what we do best: connect with other women who simply get it.

There is something incredibly powerful about sitting in a room with people who recognise themselves in your stories. Sharing experiences can help us make sense of our own journeys, challenge years of self-criticism, reduce shame and remind us that we are not alone.

Together, we'll celebrate our wonderfully spiky, sparkly, beautifully imperfect minds and explore the many ways ADHD can show up in our lives.

As always, you do not need a formal ADHD diagnosis to attend. Whether you are diagnosed, self-identify, are awaiting assessment, or simply recognise ADHD traits in yourself, you are warmly welcome.

Come as you are. Leave with a creation, new insights, and perhaps a few new connections too.
