My Approach

My approach is person-centred and integrative, meaning counselling is shaped around you, your experiences and what feels most important for you to explore. You remain at the centre of the process, with the freedom to move at your own pace and decide what you are ready to bring.

Life is a journey, and the people we meet along the way can influence its direction, pace and meaning. At times, we may feel as though we are walking that path alone, carrying experiences or emotions that feel too difficult to share. My role is not to direct your journey or tell you who you should become, but to walk alongside you as we explore what has shaped you and what you may need moving forward.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. Through active listening, reflection, empathy and compassion, I aim to offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted.

Many of us carry guilt, shame, regret, grief or painful experiences from the past. These experiences can influence how we see ourselves, relate to others and respond to the world around us. Working collaboratively, we can gently explore the emotions, beliefs, patterns and unmet needs that may sit beneath the surface, developing greater understanding and more compassionate ways of responding to yourself.

Talking and listening form the foundation of my work, but I recognise that not everything can be expressed through words alone. Where it feels helpful, I may offer creative and experiential ways to explore, including metaphor, imagery, stones, cards, clay, matryoshka dolls, journalling, or drawing.

There is never an expectation to use a particular tool or activity. Some people prefer to talk, while others find that creative approaches help them express experiences or parts of themselves that have been difficult to put into words. We will work in the way that feels most comfortable and meaningful for you.

Underlying my approach is a belief in the human capacity for growth, resilience and change. Counselling is not about fixing who you are. It is about understanding yourself more fully, reconnecting with your strengths and developing greater compassion, clarity and choice.

You do not have to walk the path alone. Sometimes healing begins when someone simply walks beside you.
